Hosting Organisation Description

The history of the school, today known as the Complex of Artistic Craft Schools, dates back to the 19th century, while the art of woodcarving has existed in the Jelenia Góra region since the 18th century.

On November 7, 1902, the ceremonial opening of the woodcarving school took place in a newly constructed building in Cieplice, where German instructors taught woodcarving based on traditional motifs, primarily sacral sculpture. In April 1922, Prof. dell’Antonio—a first-rate artist and sculptor who had taught figure woodcarving at the school since 1904—became its director.

Today, under the leadership of director Mgr. Anna Szydłowska-Robak, the Complex of Artistic Craft Schools comprises an Art High School and a Technical School offering specializations in Wood Technology, IT, Photography and Multimedia, Fashion Industry, Styling, and Advertising.

Throughout its modern history, the school’s faculty has included renowned visual artists and creators, including Władysław Czyszczoń, Tadeusz Kaczmarek, Teresa Kępowicz, Teresa Klink, Beata Kornicka-Konecka, Emil Wawro, Alicja Jachim, Marek Liksztet, Zbigniew Martin, Bolesław Rzeczycki, Lidia Sokół-Trybalska, Jan Superson, Ewa Moskaluk, Władysław Sierka, Marian Szymanik, Wojciech Zawadzki, Izabela Holak, Irena Todorowska, and Alicja Niewiadomska.

Mobility program description

The presentation of artistic workshops is intended to introduce the specific nature of the work of a teacher-artist or specialist-professional with our students, while offering insight into the traditions and culture of our town and region. The ultimate goal is to facilitate a rich exchange of educational experiences and observations.

Because our school has a dedicated artistic profile—balancing general education with specialized training for creative talents—we warmly invite teachers involved in visual arts education. Invited teachers will participate as observers in classes led by our artist-teachers and specialists. By observing our faculty and students in action, participants will be able to exchange valuable insights on the similarities and differences between our approach and their home institutions. For teachers accompanying student groups through the Erasmus+ program, class observation offers an ideal structure for professional development.

Classes will take place across our school's specialized studios and collaborating cultural institutions. The observation schedule will be seamlessly integrated into our regular timetable to ensure non-disruptive, authentic class environments.
